Here's where the good and the bad come into play:

The Good Stuff:

  1. Clarity in Communication: DISC has given me a new language for understanding others, enhancing how I approach and tailor conversations.
  2. Team Synergy: Recognizing DISC types when I work with teams has allowed us to align our strengths and work in harmony.
  3. Effective Leadership: Being a 'Motivator', DISC has honed my ability to lead with empathy, tuning into each team member's motivations.
  4. Prospecting Precision: Knowing a prospect's DISC profile is invaluable in sales and networking, allowing me to tailor pitches and help my clients tailor theirs for better resonance.

The Rusty Bits:

  1. Over-Simplification: At times, DISC can box individuals into broad stereotypes, missing the nuances of human behaviour.
  2. Static Labels: People change, and static DISC profiles can become outdated, leading to misjudgments.
  3. Cultural Blind Spots: DISC doesn't fully account for cultural nuances that influence behaviours.
  4. Dependency Risk: Over-reliance on DISC can risk dictating our interactions instead of informing them.

How You Can Use Crystal Knows

Here's how you can leverage Crystal Knows to elevate your networking game, regardless of your profile:

  1. Know Thyself: Identify your style to play to your strengths. I have used my profile as a "manual of me" when working with new people and letting them know what energizes me and drains me for example.
  2. Craft Your Conversations: Adapt Crystal's communication tips to fit your approach. As we all know, AI is not the total solution, so make sure to put your human touch on the suggested messages and follow-ups.

  4. Build Deeper Bonds: Use the insights from Crystal to build rapport that goes beyond the surface. Although this tool is AMAZING at helping, I don't rely on it 100% though the insights help build out a plan.

While I've embraced the insights DISC offers, I'm cautious not to let it cast shadows over the individuality of the people I meet. It's a tool, not a rulebook. The best approach is to use DISC as a starting point for deeper understanding, with personal interactions building the true bridge.

The LinkedIn Revelation

Imagine you're scrolling through LinkedIn, and there's a profile that catches your eye. You wonder, "How can I connect with this person in a way that resonates?"

Enter the Crystal Chrome extension (which is one of my FAVOURITE features). With just one click, I've been able to get a snapshot of their DISC profile, crafting messages that speak their language, and more often than not, the responses are positive and full of energy!

I am okay with details but it's not my favourite thing to do...hence why you shouldn't rely on it 100%

*Quick Disclaimer: I've found Crystal Knows to be bang-on about 97% of the time. But let's not forget, it does rely on how folks describe themselves on LinkedIn. So if AI's been playing wordsmith on profiles, it might just lead our trusty Crystal ball down a quirky detour now and then! 🕵️♂️🔮🍵
