When people ask me what I do for a living and I tell them “I’m a Professional Wing Woman” This often sparks curiosity, and I see their interest pique as they ask, “What does that mean?”

I enjoy seeing their intrigue and I explain: I attend events with clients to help them connect with others, whether it’s for business, fundraising, or just expanding their network, all while ensuring we both enjoy the experience.

We all know how intimidating it can be to go somewhere alone.My role is to alleviate that intimidation.This approach also means that my clients don’t have to promote themselves, as I handle introductions, making interactions less about selling and more about genuine connection.

Consider the impact when someone introduces you in a conversation. It changes the dynamics significantly.

For instance, a few months ago, I was at an event and took a seat at the “speakers table.” My friend offered me his seat and introduced me as “Shaena, who used to produce TEDxStockholm events.” It was evident how this introduction made everyone more comfortable and accepting of my presence.

In that situation, my friend's introduction helped to smoothly integrate me into the group, eliminating any need for formalities or self-promotion.

And when asked about my profession, I often hear, “That’s a unique idea. I’ve never come across it before.”

To which I humbly respond, “Yes, it’s quite a unique role I have.”
